You might be missing the point, Garmin…

It’s been a rough summer; with three crashes, two of which have taken me off the bike for unwelcome lengths of time… I don’t like seeing that “detraining” notice any less than anyone else, but honestly, I also appreciate the honesty. And while it totally sucks seeing it there, taunting me, not seeing it is worse. I didn’t go all-in to have my devices go dark, hiding something that is clearly happening.…

Garmin fēnix 6 goes to 11, err… 11.10

Take couple slow days and BOOM, there’s another update to the Garmin fēnix 6. Love it! I’ve actually been running the RC with zero issues for about a week, so I think it’s totally safe to plop this guy on the watch and enjoy the new features. The  Unfortunately, there’s no direct download link on the forums, so you’ll have to use Garmin Express if you want to force it officially. But…

Hammerhead Karoo 2 is THE BEST Strava KOM Hunter’s Computer

Being completely honest, I yawned (metaphorically of course) my way through most of DCR’s Hammerhead Karoo 2 hands-on. The bike computer looks fine, does stuff, even does it well, navigation for example, but nothing that really addressed the biggest question around why one might want to buy one of these cycling computers over industry leader Garmin, or hot-on-their-heels Wahoo (I know there are others, but again being completely honest, they’re also-rans). Until…

Specialized does its CL thing to the Roval Alpinist

It won’t come as a surprise to anyone that a “CL” version of the Roval Alpinist was in the works. It Specialized’s MO to start with the CLX, and then drop the “X” for a significantly more budget friendly version. In this case you’re really not giving up that much either. The rim is same 21mm internal/ 26.3mm external / 33mm deep as the top end Alpinist, just moving to the bulletproof…

I’ve been doing wound care wrong. My whole life.

Unfortunately, I picked up some lacerations, and stitches, in last night’s adventure, but fortunately the 182lb Pure Climber was there to let me know that I have been handling my wound care incorrectly. For as long as I’ve been self-managing my wound care. Maybe it’s just me, but I suspect not given 1) the host’s desire to discuss it 2) he specifically mentioned that some surgeons do it wrong 3) it’s what…
