Don’t be a dick, Shimano. Oh, too late…

I’ve generally had a very positive view of Shimano. For the most part, the kit just works. What’s not to like about that? Well, part of how it just works, won’t anymore because they decided to cut Hammerhead out of their Di2 licensing. Why? Garmin Varia RCT715 – Camera + Radar – Leaks

First off. YES PLEASE! This is a no brainer, and I’m glad that Garmin has [allegedly] finally brought something to market. Specs are a bit thin on the ground (Reddit says $400 and 5 hours of battery life), but if those numbers are true and it’s 4K that’s not terrible; obviously more battery life would be preferred, but hey there’s only so much you can do with one built-in battery. Zwift Pauses Their Ride

So remember how Zwift was working on their own hardware? Well, that’s not happening anymore. They’ve announced layoffs and a pause to the IRL Tron bike project. Bummer… Apparently the same slowdown that hit Wahoo is also impacting them. Probably bit of world returning to outside riding and general economic uncertainty. Zwift is calling this a “pause” rather than a halt, meaning however unlikely it seems, Zwift hasn’t ruled out one day…

Garmin fēnix 6 – Firmware 21.00

Garmin changed the BETA process for 21.00, and I happily opted in. No major issues to report, but I have been having an ongoing problem with the Training Effect (TE) displayed on the initial activity report since 20.86.
